Greyhounds as Pets WA (or GAP) relies heavily on volunteers and values their contribution highly. We encourage an environment of mutual respect, where GAP officers and volunteers work towards facilitating and promoting greyhound pet ownership and welfare.
Thanks to everyone’s amazing support, our Volunteer shifts are currently full. If you would still like to contribute the rehoming of greyhounds, we’d love you to consider fostering.

Animal enrichment
Our animal enrichment shift runs weekdays from 9am-12pm at our kennel facility in Southern River.
A typical enrichment shift involves;
- General kennel work, raking and cleaning yards, filling treat balls, etc.
- Playing with our greyhounds in off leash yards.
- Walking our greyhounds on and off the property to help teach them leash manners.
- Spending time with our resident cats.
Community events
If you are interested in attending community events to promote greyhounds and the GAP program then becoming a community event volunteer is right for you. There are no set shifts for the community event program, rather we will contact you when we have weekend events and see if you would like to come along.
