Could Maya be the subject of all your literature? Maya is a beautiful girl looking for a forever home where she could blossom into the confident, people loving girl GAPWA staff know her to be. This dog social lady would love to join a large canine companion that could show her the ropes of pet life and zoomie around with her. Maya may take a minute to warm up but once she is comfortable with you, she is a smoochy, playful and affectionate little lady that adores a good scratch or ball throw. Sweet Maya would do best in a home where all humans are were at least nine years old at the start of her settling in period, but could easily be around younger little humans once she has settled into her new surroundings. Maya is happy with her own company for up to six hours, but most likely could handle full time hours with a canine buddy to keep her company. Like a typical greyhound, Maya is content with one or two daily 20 minute walks by your side before returning home to snuggle up with you. Maya has an eye condition called Pannus, which is treated with daily eye drops.
Let Maya’s poetic soul shine through in your home with patience and love. Like her namesake, Maya Angelou says, this sweet girl would love to “…be a rainbow to someone’s cloud.”
Maya Foster Update | Maya is looking for her home where she can be your perfect muse
Maya has truly flourished in her foster home and quickly became the sweet, playful, and loving girl we knew she would be. While she started off a bit nervous and unsure in her new surroundings, she very quickly settled in and show her true smoochy nature. Her foster humans say that she “gets very excited every morning when we wake up, running up and giving us lots of licks.”
After a few shy days, Maya has taken pet life in her stride, acing toilet training, staying home alone for up to six hours alongside her foster ‘sibling,’ and becoming a beautiful leash walker (although she does small on the spot zoomies when she sees you are getting her leash and harness ready!).
Maya has truly enjoyed her time with her foster ‘brother’ named Mr Valentine. The two of them have become fast friends, with Maya learning to balance playtime and relaxation and following his lead like an enamoured little sister. According to her foster humans’ Maya and Mr Valentine “sprint around the backyard having zoomies together” and constantly do the cutest play bows to each other.
While Maya can be a little shy around new people she meets on her walks, she warms up quickly with some gentle attention. After a few pats she’s all wagging tail and happiness. When she has met other greyhounds on her adventures, she is quick to greet them with excitement and a wagging tail, before settling easily into polite play and companionship.
Maya is a beautiful girl who blossoms into a smoochy, waggy, and playful companion. She’s ready to share her love with her furever family, and she will surely steal their hearts just as quickly as she has with her foster humans.
To set Maya up for the most success, his forever and foster homes would be similar environments, and include;
✅Doggie companion(s)
✅Opportunities for greyhound doggie dates
✅Humans that understand she needs a second to open up and ‘release’ the smoochy-ness
